I was in my office with Muktha, discussing the arrangements she had made. And everything was going smoothly until Rahul came into my office with a file.

"The thing you asked for—everything you need to know is in it," he said, looking at Muktha. They both smiled at each other, and I narrowed my eyes at them.

She looked at me, and I told her to go to the venue and take care of everything because the gala was tomorrow. I need everything to be perfect.

I took the file and looked into it. Her name is Chandini Sehgal; she is 21 years old, and she has an older brother and a younger sister. She has two best friends, Barkha and Rohit. She had a boyfriend, too. I looked at her pictures again and was mesmerized by her captivating beauty. Her eyes were dark but sparkling and full of life.

"Her brother, Samay Sehgal, works in our company in the IT department." Rahul interrupted my thoughts of her, raising his eyebrows. I cleared my throat and looked at him thoughtfully, considering what he had said.

"Invite—"

"It is already done! Everyone from the company is invited with one date," he cut me off and showed me one finger. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes to relax. Nobody gets on my nerves like he does.

"You okay?" He has the audacity to ask if I am okay, knowing full well that I despise it when people cut me off mid-sentence. I gave him a cold stare, and he gulped.

"You know very well, that I fucking hate it when people interrupt me between sentences. I am going to kill you today, Asshole," I yelled.

I got out of my chair and grabbed the lamp from the table, ready to throw it at his head. He bolted out of the room, with his eyes wide, before I could throw it at him.

I took another deep breath, and after some time, I was calm enough to resume my work.

A few hours later

I was tired of working all day, so I called Rahul and Sumit and decided to go to a cafe to relax and have some coffee or perhaps something to eat. Sumit arrived at the office, and we took off. He told me about a new cafe that just opened up and that their coffee is delicious.

We went there and sat down, ready to place our order. I was looking at the menu to see what I could order to go with my coffee.

"Hello, welcome to our cafe. I'll be helping you today. What would you like to order, gentleman?" Again, that sweet, angelic voice.

After what she did, I should not be drawn to her voice, but God help me. I can't fucking stop myself. I looked up, and she met my gaze. Her eyes widened as she recognized me. And I smirked.

"We'll both take coffee with sandwiches, thank you." Sumit smiled and ordered for him and Rahul, and they resumed their conversation.

She took their order and looked at me, as I was already looking at her.

"I will have a black coffee with ice but no sugar and a chicken sandwich. You can go now." I said this rudely while looking at my phone.

She did not move, so I motioned with my two fingers for her to leave, without looking at her.

"Bloody moron," she said, thinking I did not hear her, but I did.

I stopped her and grabbed her arm, forcing her to turn around to face me.

"I dare you to say it again, darling," I said slowly.

She jerked my hand again, as she had done the day before, and said, "Uh-huh!" She quirked her brow and scoffed at me and returned to the counter to place our order.

When I took my seat, I noticed that my friends were staring at me strangely. Rahul took another look at her before asking. "Is she not the one you told me to look into?" In response to his question, I nodded my head.

"No, Rahul, you mean the one who slapped Rudra Kapoor in front of people," Sumit smirked.

I gave him a cold look. "Shut up, assholes! Do not bring it up!" I told them, and they laughed once more.

She returned a few moments later with our order and placed it on the table.

"Please let me know if you guys need anything," she said.

I "accidentally" spilt my coffee all over her left hand just as she was about to turn.

"What the hell! Are you blind? You have eyes for that, so use them! You moron!" She yelled at me, and I smirked.

"Call your manager," I said.

"What?" she asked.

"I said, call your manager. I would like to speak with him; how can he hire people with no manners?" I told her.

She shook her head and looked at me with wide eyes and tears streaming down her cheeks.

"No, I am sorry, sir; that will not happen again," she said as she walked back to the back of the cafe.

My friends were looking at me with disapproval, and I shrugged my shoulders. I sat down, ready to drink my coffee, when Sumit said something that made me feel like a monster.

"You threw hot coffee at her and yelled at her. What were you thinking, man?" Hot coffee? No, I did not feel anything when I held the cup in my hand.

"So she slapped me and deserved it," I said, and they shook their heads.

After we finished our coffee, Sumit returned to his meeting, while Rahul and I went to the gala venue to see how things were going.

"Bhaiya, did you find out about the woman who slapped you?" Muktha asked, trying to hold back her laughter, but Rahul burst out laughing.

He stopped when I glared at him. He has been getting on my nerves lately.

"Oh, he did find her and splattered hot coffee on that poor soul. If this wasn't enough, he was about to make her jobless." Rahul spoke up before I could respond.

I pinched my nose in anger; the fucking idiot does not know when to speak.

"Bhaiya, that was very wrong of you! How could you throw that hot coffee on someone?" Muktha said with a hurtful look. If I wasn't feeling bad enough.

"That's not your business to ask or to know. Just focus on your work, Muktha. Don't be interested in what I do, who I do it with, or especially in life, for fucks sake!" My voice was icy cold, and it made her flinch.

She nodded her head, looked down, and walked away, hiding her tears from me.

"I know you don't like people interfering in your life or having anything to do with you, but she is your sister, Rudra. You need to learn how to talk to or have respect for those who care about you, people who always have your best interests at heart." Rahul spoke his voice firm but tinged with irritation.

"I'm getting tired of your behaviour, Rudra. You used to be respectful of everyone and take care of them. Now you are just... I do not know what to say. Today, you harmed a good person who was simply doing her job. Stop it, Rudra!" He then walked away.

When I looked around, I noticed that everyone was watching everything that happened.

"What are you all looking at, huh? Do your work, idiots, or I am not going to pay you!" I screamed, and everyone went back to work.

"Fucking Hell!" I mumbled to myself, feeling bad for raising my voice at Muktha.

She was trying to tell me that what I did was wrong, and I yelled at her. Why am I causing pain to everyone around me? when I don't want to, but I can't stop myself. I can't stand people telling me what to do. I am not that anymore, Rudra. After my mother died five years ago, I completely changed; I forgot how to smile or laugh, and now I just yelled and hurt people.

After a while at the venue, I went home and had dinner, and Muktha didn't even look at me. Papa asked me about marriage again, and I told him I'd think about it.

I went to my room, showered, and laid down on my bed, trying to sleep, but I couldn't take my mind off Chandini's face and her red eyes from crying when I told her to call the manager.

She was concerned about losing her job, despite the fact that the mistake was mine. I was the one who acted like an asshole, and she got burned.
